Personal Training
Nigel Rooker is the founder of Spirit Personal Training Ltd offering a personal and holistic approach to health and fitness with the emphasis on a functional and movement based exercise regime balancing cardiovascular fitness, strength, flexibility, nutrition and the mind.
The ethos of all sessions whether personal training or one to one pilates instruction is that they will always be fun, involving and challenging working towards attaining client focussed realistic health and fitness goals.
Based at Greens Health and Fitness (Wakefield) Nigel offers personal training centred around the ‘Functional Training Paradigm’ of stability, balance, strength, power and endurance to bring about improved movement quality as well as realising the clients health and fitness goals.
Nigel also provides one to one instruction in the Pilates Method at Theraspace wellbeing within Greens along with teaching group pilates at several local gyms. Benefits of the Pilates Method include increased body awareness, improving and changing the body’s postural and alignment habits while also increasing flexibility, ease of movement and promoting a sense of relaxed wellbeing.
As a keen lifelong sportsman including playing club rugby at first XV level for over fifteen years with spells as both club coach and captain he decided to turn his passion for health and fitness into his vocation managing a small private gym, then working for Greens as a fitness instructor before forming Spirit PT. When not working with his private or corporate clients Nigel devotes much of his spare time to his passion for surfing, climbing and the great outdoors.
Qualifications include: gym instructor, GP referral, University of East London Personal Trainer Award, OCR level 2 Pilates, intermediate Pilates, RFU level 1 coach, nutriton advisor, class based circuit and core training, Single Pitch Award trained. Member of Register Of Exercise Professionals at Level 3.
